About this Sacred Grove

Spread over 1.3 hectares in Agraharam village, Namakkal district, this sacred kavu is dedicated to Lord Vinayagar, worshipped as Vigneswara who removes obstacles and protects the village. Local belief says Vinayagar self-manifested under an ancient tree to guard farmlands, water sources and families from evil eye, dosha and crop failure. Farmers pray before sowing for rain, good yield and cattle welfare. The dense grove preserves native trees, birds and snakes as sacred, strictly protected from cutting. Regular Ganesh Chaturthi, pongal poojas and daily worship maintain this tradition, showcasing how faith preserves biodiversity, groundwater and ecological balance in Kongu region.
