About this Sacred Grove
Located in Alavaipatti village, Namakkal district, this sacred kavu within Reserved Forest land is dedicated to Lord Sri Balasubramanya Swami (Murugan). Worshipped as Bala Murugan, the eternal child warrior, he protects village children from evil eye, diseases, forest dangers and accidents. Local legend says Murugan appeared on a peacock to guard the tribal hamlet and farmlands. Parents pray for child health, courage, education and family welfare. The forest grove preserves native trees, peacocks, medicinal herbs and wildlife as sacred, strictly protected by forest and villagers. Thai Poosam, Panguni Uthiram and Skanda Sashti festivals with kavadi and pongal offerings sustain faith-driven forest conservation in Kongu region.
