About this Sacred Grove

Spread over 2.3 hectares in Anaichampalayam, Namakkal district, this sacred kavu is dedicated to Karuppasamy, the fierce guardian deity of Kongu villages. Believed to ride a black horse with sword and guard the village borders at night from evil spirits, theft and injustice, Karuppasamy is worshipped as neethi deivam who punishes wrongdoers and protects truth. Villagers pray for protection from black magic, legal victory, farm and cattle safety. Devotees offer aruval, cigar, alcohol and pongal during midnight poojas. The dense grove preserves ancient trees, medicinal plants and wildlife as sacred, never cut due to fear of deity. Aadi and full-moon festivals sustain tradition and biodiversity protection.
