About this Sacred Grove

Ayarpadi Vinayagar Sacred Grove is located in Ayarpadi Village, Sulur Taluk, Coimbatore District, Tamil Nadu. Dedicated to Lord Vinayagar, the remover of obstacles, the grove is revered as his ancient abode. Folklore says a self-manifested Vinayagar idol was found by farmers while tilling the land near the forest. After worship began, obstacles in agriculture were removed and wells yielded abundant water. Villagers then declared the surrounding forest as his sacred grove. Since then, Lord Vinayagar is worshipped before all village events for success and prosperity. Cutting trees or entering the grove with footwear is strictly prohibited, and it is conserved through deep faith, daily poojas and Vinayagar Chaturthi festivals.
