About this Sacred Grove
Kasampatty Veeran Sacred Grove in Rediyapatty Panchayat, Natham Taluk, Dindigul District is Tamil Nadu's 2nd Biodiversity Heritage Site, notified on 27 March 2025 under Biological Diversity Act, 2002. First is Arittapatti (2022).Spanning 4.97 hectares near Alagarmalai Reserve Forest and surrounded by mango plantations, it is protected by villagers who worship deity 'Veeranan'. It is a biodiversity hotspot with plant species, shrubs, lianas, herbs, bird species, mammals, reptiles and insects. It acts as an ecological bridge, helps pollination, soil fertility and climate regulation.
