About this Sacred Grove

Kavarakal Muneeswaran Sacred Grove is located in Kavarakal Village, Annur Taluk, Coimbatore District, Tamil Nadu. Dedicated to Lord Muneeswaran, the powerful guardian deity, the grove is revered as his fierce abode. Folklore says Muneeswaran protected the village from evil spirits, cattle theft and crop damage. Villagers who heard his divine whispers and witnessed trance-possessed mediums warned of danger installed his deity under the trees at the boundary. After regular worship and offerings, the village was blessed with peace and good harvests. Since then, cutting trees, hunting or misbehaving inside is strictly forbidden fearing his punishment, and the grove is conserved through strong faith, pongal offerings and annual festivals.
