About this Sacred Grove

The Khecheopalri lake, believed to fulfill the wishes of devotees, guarded by the deity Tsomen Gyalmu.
This is unusual tranquil lake, surrounded by verdant forest, considered among the sacred lakes of Sikkim,
both by the Buddhists and the Hindus. It is believed that the lake was formed by the scooping action of
hanging glacier and represents the footprint of Guru Padmasambhava. There are two perennial and five
seasonal water inlets to the lake and one outlet. The lake never gets filled with leaf litters even though it is
surrounded by a dense forest.
