About this Sacred Grove

Kilarayampuram Nallappa Temple Sacred Grove is located in Kilarayampuram Village, Ariyalur Taluk, Ariyalur District. Dedicated to Lord Nallappaswamy, the village guardian deity, the grove is deeply rooted in local faith. Folklore says the village once suffered from disease and crop failure, and elders prayed to Nallappaswamy under a sacred tree. After the village recovered, the forest patch was dedicated to him. Villagers believe cutting trees here brings divine anger, so it has been strictly protected through taboos and festivals for over a century, representing Tamil Nadu's traditional community-based sacred grove heritage.
