About this Sacred Grove
Spread over 5.4 hectares in Manappally, Namakkal district, this sacred kavu is jointly dedicated to Lord Eswaran (Shiva) and Perumal (Vishnu). Worshipped as Hari-Hara protectors, they guard village, farmlands and cattle from drought, diseases, evil spirits and crop failure. Local belief says Shiva and Vishnu appeared together in forest to bring unity and peace to warring villages. Devotees pray for rain, family harmony, good harvest and dosha removal. The large grove preserves huge ancient trees, medicinal plants, birds, bats and wildlife as sacred, strictly protected from cutting. Maha Shivaratri, Vaikunta Ekadasi and Pradosham poojas with bilva, tulsi, pongal and abhishekam sustain Kongu tradition. It exemplifies Hari-Hara worship linked with large forest patch conservation and biodiversity protection.
