About this Sacred Grove

The Neiveli Vadapathy Ravuthar Appan deity is Muslim. The idol is made of stone with a moustache and a Muslim hat. Once a Muslim man who came to Neyveli was very thirsty; hence he asked water from a lady sitting in a nearby house. She belonged to a higher caste (Hindu). Her name was Muthaalu. She gave water to this Muslim without knowing that he was a Muslim. Afterwards, the people came to know of this sin and isolated her from their religion. Afterwards, both the lady Muththaalu and the Muslim turned into stone statues. The other minor deities worshipped on Aiyanar and Karuppasami. People worship to excel in education and get rid of their troubles. People offer pongal and worship. Local people are maintaining this site.
