About this Sacred Grove

Nemathanpatti Muni and Ponn Azhagi Temple is a famous twin shrine in Nemathanpatti village, Sivaganga district. Muneeswaran is the fierce boundary guardian who protects the village from evil, black magic and enemies, while his consort Ponn Azhagi Amman is the graceful protector of women, children and family well-being. Folklore says a Muni residing in the nearby karuvelam grove saved the village from a plague, and Ponn Azhagi appeared as a golden light blessing childless couples. Together they symbolize protection and prosperity. Devotees offer cigar, pongal and saree, believing the deities cure fear, spirit troubles, grant child boon, marriage and family peace.
