About this Sacred Grove

Othakalmandapam Bhadrakaliyamman Sacred Grove is located at Othakalmandapam, Kinathukadavu Taluk, Coimbatore District, Tamil Nadu. Dedicated to Goddess Bhadrakaliyamman, the fierce protector, the grove is revered as her powerful abode. Folklore says Bhadrakaliyamman guarded the village from epidemics, evil spirits and crop failures, appearing as a divine light in the grove. After villagers witnessed miraculous cures and her oracle, they installed her idol under the sacred trees. Since then, she is worshipped for village protection, good health, rainfall and prosperity. Cutting trees, harming wildlife or entering impure inside the grove is strictly taboo fearing her wrath, and it is conserved through deep faith, offerings and annual Adi festivals.
