About this Sacred Grove

Parthibanur Pugazheshwara Aiyanar, a deity revered in the region around Paramakudi, is a guardian spirit (Kaval Deivam) known for his fierce protection and benevolence. His shrine, situated in the village of Parthipanur, is a place of deep devotion where locals gather to seek blessings, protection, and justice. When a severe drought struck the region around Paramakudi, the fields were parched, the rivers dried up, and the people were on the brink of despair. The villagers of Parthibanur gathered at the shrine of Pugazheshwara Aiyanar, prayed fervently offering their devotion and sacrifices, for rain but the skies remained clear. Finally, on one day, a small child approached the shrine and innocently placed a single jasmine flower at the feet of the deity, praying for rain with pure heart.
