About this Sacred Grove

Pathinettamkudi Sellandiyamman is a revered local Goddess in the Melur region of Tamil Nadu. She is worshipped as a powerful guardian and mother figure, often invoked for protection, fertility, and the well-being of the community.  Long ago, one of the girls of the village, shared her dream with the villagers about the origin of Sellandiyamman, Though were initially skeptical, at a specific spot in the forest, they found a strange and glowing stone, just as described in the dream. Recognizing this as a sign of the goddess's presence, the villagers built a shrine on that spot and began worshipping Sellandiyamman. Since then, the village prospered and the threats from wild animals and natural disasters also diminished. Sellandiyamman is revered as the divine protector of the village and her shrine has become pilgrimage for the devotees.
