About this Sacred Grove

Sathankudi Niraikulathu Kammakarai Ayanar is a revered local deity in the Thirumangalam region of Tamil Nadu. Aiyanar is typically worshipped as a strong protector of justice and a guardian of the surrounding villages. Sathankudi Niraikulathu Kammakarai Aiyanar is known for his fierce loyalty, strength, justice and deep loyalty bond he shares with the villagers.  Long ago, during a particularly harsh summer, the village faced a severe drought and all the wells and rivers in the area dried up. The villagers had to struggle for water and for their livestock. In their time of need, they organized a special prayer ceremony at his shrine and the issue was resolved.
