About this Sacred Grove

The Sempoondi Pachaiyamman Sacred Grove, located in the tranquil village of Sempoondi in Tamil Nadu, is dedicated to Pachaiyamman, a revered goddess associated with fertility, prosperity and protection. During a time when a plague swept through Sempoondi, many villagers fell ill and were on the brink of despair. The villagers prayed to Pachaiyamman for protection and healing. According to a legend, Pachaiyamman appeared in one of the dreams of a villager and instructed to perform a special ritual at the sacred grove. Following her instructions, the villagers conducted the ritual, and the plague miraculously subsided. The villagers attributed their recovery to Pachaiyamman's divine intervention and continue to regularly worship and offer prayers for her blessings.
