Senthirankillai Ponniyamman is a revered deity in the village of Senthirankillai in Tamil Nadu. Long ago, when attackers threatened the village, the people of Senthirankillai sought the protection of Ponniyamman. They performed special prayers and rituals, invoking the goddess’s help. Legend has it that Ponniyamman appeared as a fierce warrior, wielding weapons and riding a lion, driving away the invaders and saving the village. This event reinforced Ponniyamman’s role as a protector and guardian of the village community
