About this Sacred Grove
This Sacred grove is located in the Siruvachur Reserve Forest area. Festivals are held occasionally. Very huge figurine of God is found here. A particular community worships this God for fulfillment of their wishes. It is maintained by a social community group. They offer animal sacrifice also and the choice of the animal may vary based on the nature of the vow and local customs. As part of the purification, the animals are first bathed, decorated with garlands and sacred markings before offering the sacrifice. The animal sacrifice is done by a designated priest or by an elderly community person. Prayers and hymns are recited, invoking Periyasamy God’s blessings. It is believed that these Sacrifices will appease the Periyasamy God and other associated deities, thus protecting the villagers from evil spirits, diseases, and natural calamities.
