About this Sacred Grove

Solaganur Kannimar Sacred Grove is located in Solaganur Village, Annur Taluk, Coimbatore District, Tamil Nadu. Dedicated to the seven Kannimar Goddesses, the virgin guardian deities, the grove is worshipped as their sacred abode. Folklore says the seven sisters sacrificed their lives to protect the village from a severe epidemic and were deified. After miraculous cures and protection of children were witnessed, villagers installed their idols under the grove. Since then, Kannimars are worshipped for children's health, safe childbirth and village prosperity. Cutting trees, plucking even a leaf or entering impure is strictly prohibited, fearing the wrath of the goddesses. The grove is conserved through deep faith, offerings and annual Pongal festivals.
