About this Sacred Grove
Suruli Aruvi (Suruli Falls) is a famous waterfall located in the Theni district of Tamil Nadu. It is not only a natural marvel but also a site of deep spiritual significance, with temples dedicated to several deities, including Lakshmi, Vinayagar (Ganesha), Anjeneyar (Hanuman), Karuppasami, and Lord Shiva. According to a local legend, the waters of Suruli Aruvi are blessed by Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth and fortune. The presence of Goddess Lakshmi at the Suruli Aruvi is believed to bring prosperity and abundance to the region. It is said that a long time ago, a poor farmer while meditating near the waterfall, had a vision of Goddess Lakshmi emerging from the water, holding a pot of gold. The goddess told him that the waters of Suruli Aruvi had the power to bless those who came with pure intentions. The farmer, filled with hope, bathed in the waterfall and offered prayers to Lakshmi. Upon returning home, he found that his barren fields had suddenly become fertile, and his crops yielded an abundant harvest. Words spread and soon people from all over began visiting Suruli Aruvi to seek Lakshmi's blessings for prosperity and well-being. Even today, devotees believe that bathing in the waters of Suruli Aruvi and offering prayers to Goddess Lakshmi will bring good fortune and remove any financial hardships.
