About this Sacred Grove

Thoppaiyar Anai (Dam) Muniyappan Temple, Dharmapuri - Located near the Thoppaiyar Dam in Dharmapuri district, this is a powerful shrine of Lord Muniyappan, worshipped as the guardian deity of the dam and surrounding villages. Installed by locals to protect the water source and villagers from accidents, evil spirits and natural calamities, he is considered a fierce form of Muneeswaran who guards the dam boundaries. Devotees believe worshipping him ensures water prosperity, safe fishing, protection from drowning and evil, and removal of fear and evil eye. Farmers and dam workers especially pray for rain, good harvest and safety. Offerings of pongal, cigar and lemon garlands on Tuesdays and Fridays attract devotees seeking protection and wish fulfillment.
