About this Sacred Grove

Located within Reserved Forest near Tiruchengode, Namakkal district, this sacred kavu is dedicated to Angalamman, the fierce guardian mother goddess. Worshipped as protector of forest boundaries and village, she guards against evil spirits, epidemics, accidents and crop failure. Local belief says Angalamman as boundary goddess stays in forest to prevent evil entering village and protect travellers on ghat roads. Women and farmers pray for child safety, family peace, removal of black magic and good yield. The dense RF grove preserves huge native trees, medicinal shrubs, peacocks, birds and wildlife as her sacred abode, protected jointly by forest department and locals. Amavasya, Aadi month and Tuesdays poojas with pongal, turmeric, kumkum and lemon garland offerings maintain Kongu Angalamman tradition where goddess faith ensures forest biodiversity conservation within reserve forest.
