About this Sacred Grove

Spread over 1.8 hectares in Tiruchengode, Namakkal district, this sacred kavu is dedicated to Sattai Amman. Worshipped as protector of women, family honour and village border, she guards against evil spirits, shame, disease and misfortune. Local belief says Sattai Amman appeared as chaste woman in forest to protect village honour from invaders and protect women travellers. Women pray for chastity, safe marriage, family dignity, child protection and relief from black magic. The dense grove preserves huge native trees, medicinal plants, birds and wildlife as sacred, never cut due to her modest power. Tuesdays, Fridays and Aadi month poojas with saree, turmeric, bangles and pongal offerings maintain Kongu tradition where Sattai Amman worship preserves forest patch and biodiversity conservation.
