Vadugapatti Mahakaliyamman Sacred Grove is located at Vadugapatti, Pollachi Taluk, Coimbatore District, Tamil Nadu. Dedicated to Goddess Mahakaliyamman, the fierce protector, the grove is revered as her powerful abode. Folklore says Mahakaliyamman guarded the village from epidemics, drought and evil forces, appearing in dreams to elders. After miraculous cures and good rainfall followed her worship, villagers installed her idol under the sacred trees. Since then, she is worshipped for village protection, good monsoon, health and fertility of land. Cutting trees, polluting or hunting inside the grove is strictly forbidden fearing her wrath. The grove is conserved through deep devotion, Pongal poojas and annual Adi and Chithirai festivals.
