About this Sacred Grove

Spread over 1.3 hectares in Vadugapatti, Namakkal district, this sacred kavu is dedicated to Lord Vinayakar (Ganesha), remover of obstacles. Worshipped as first god and protector of village entrance, he guards farmers, children and cattle from evil spirits, accidents and crop failure. Local belief says Vinayakar self-manifested under ancient tree to protect village from flood and evil entry. Devotees pray for good beginnings, success in farming, child education and removal of dosha. The dense grove preserves native trees, medicinal shrubs, birds and squirrels as sacred, never cut due to Vinayakar presence. Sankatahara Chaturthi and Vinayaka Chaturthi poojas with modak, coconut and pongal maintain Kongu tradition where Vinayakar worship ensures sacred forest patch and biodiversity conservation.
