About this Sacred Grove

Vangaram Muneeswaran Sacred Grove is located in Vangaram Village, Ariyalur Taluk, Ariyalur District, Tamil Nadu. Dedicated to Lord Muneeswaran, the powerful guardian deity, the grove is central to village faith. Folklore says centuries ago the village was troubled by evil spirits and crop losses. Villagers installed Muneeswaran under a grove at the village boundary for protection. After worship, the problems disappeared and prosperity returned. Since then, the grove is considered the deity's abode. Villagers strictly avoid cutting trees or entering with footwear, believing it brings divine wrath, and the site is protected through annual festivals and customary taboos.
