About this Sacred Grove

Vanjinapuram Aiyanar is a revered deity in the Ariyalur district of Tamil Nadu, particularly associated with the sacred groves of Vanjinapuram. These groves are considered auspicious and hold a significant place in local spiritual practices. The origin story of Vanjinapuram Aiyanar is tied to a divine revelation.  Long ago, during the period of a calamity, the villagers faced a severe problem with a destructive disease or a natural disaster. The villagers fervently prayed for a divine intervention and in a collective vision, Aiyanar appeared and guided them to a specific location in the forest. There, they discovered an ancient grove where His idol was hidden. Establishing the idol in the grove brought an end to the crisis and the sacred grove became a place of worship and reverence.
