About this Sacred Grove
Vayalapadi Vaiyaikarai Andavar Sacred Grove, covering 3.3 ha, is located at Vayalapadi village, Perambalur District, Tamil Nadu. Dedicated to Lord Vaiyaikarai Andavar, worship is performed regularly with special pujas during festivals for protection, good harvest and prosperity. The grove is protected and maintained by the local community through strict traditional taboos prohibiting cutting of trees, removal of biomass, hunting and grazing.
