About this Sacred Grove

Located within Reserved Forest in Veeraganur, Namakkal district, this sacred kavu is dedicated to Kongulayi Amman, the Kongu region mother goddess. Worshipped as clan deity of Kongu people and protector of forest dwellers, she guards villages, cattle and crops from evil spirits, epidemics, drought and wild animal attacks. Local belief says Kongulayi Amman appeared in deep forest as Kongu kuladeivam to protect migrating Kongu families and give them land prosperity. Women pray for family welfare, child safety, good harvest and marital peace. The dense RF grove preserves ancient trees, medicinal herbs, birds, peacocks and wildlife as her sacred home, protected jointly by forest department and villagers. Aadi month, Pongal and full-moon poojas with pongal, turmeric and sari offerings maintain Kongu kuladeivam tradition where Amman faith protects forest biodiversity.
