About this Sacred Grove

Waterfalls Muneeswaran Sacred Grove is located near Waterfalls Estate, Mettupalayam Taluk, Coimbatore District, Tamil Nadu. Dedicated to Lord Muneeswaran, the guardian of forests and streams, the grove is revered as his sacred abode. Folklore says Muneeswaran protected estate workers and travellers from wild animals and landslides near the waterfalls. After workers experienced his divine presence and miraculous escapes, they installed his deity under the grove beside the stream. Since then, he is worshipped for protection from forest dangers and for good rainfall. Cutting trees, polluting water or hunting inside is strictly forbidden fearing his wrath, and the grove is preserved through tribal faith, offerings and customary festivals.
